Minutes:

Consideration was given to the report of the Senior Specialist (Elections and Democratic Services) (Agenda Item 5) which explained that as a result of the electoral ward boundary review undertaken in 2016 by the Local Government Boundary Commission, population growth/movements and housing growth across the Borough, the Council intended to carry out a Community Governance Review and Polling District Review to align the ward boundaries.

 

RESOLVED –

 

(1)         That the scope of the Community Governance Review - Appendix A to the report be approved, and;

(2)         That the indicative timetable of the Review - Appendix B to the report be approved.

Consideration was given to the report of the Senior Specialist (Elections and Democratic Services) (Agenda Item 6) which updated the Committee on the recommendations of the Boundary Commission on changes to Hampshire constituency boundaries and the impact on the Borough of Eastleigh.

 

RESOLVED –

 

(1)  That the recommendations of the Boundary Commission with changes to constituency boundaries be acknowledged, and; 

 

(2)  That the Chairman writes to the Boundary Commission supporting the proposals and also suggesting that the Test Valley Constituency is renamed to reflect that it includes areas from Eastleigh and Winchester.
