Emma Banks, the Community Manager representing the Hampshire Cultural Trust, presented a report on activities at or relating to Eastleigh Museum which covered the period from June 2019 to January 2020.


Discussions were held regarding:


(a)  how to collect and process visitor data through surveys and postcodes from visitors.


(b)  the possibility of moving the Grotto from the museum to The Point – this was ongoing and being dealt with by Guy Riddoch


(c)  contacting Councillor Peter Chegwin at Gosport Borough Council to facilitate with marketing of events like ‘All That Jazz’


(d)  use of funds from South West Railway (being released April 2012) to refurbish or potentially relocate the museum


(e)  skylight set to be replaced in March 2020


(f)  awarded £34200 from Lottery funding to put into a project that focused on the industrial past of Eastleigh and would involve Project Partners of Young People, The Bridge, EBC and One Community


(g)  a possible name change was discussed as the word ‘museum’ creates a narrow impression of the services and activities provided

Consideration was given to the Financial Report presented by Emma Banks from Hampshire Cultural Trust, which provided an overview of the Museum’s performance during Quarter 1 to 3 against the 2019/20 budget.



A requested review of the format was given to include an overview of staff delivery and monitoring to ensure staff levels were accurate and contributions were aligned with services provided.



Date and Venue of Next Meeting


It was agreed that the next meeting would take place on 23 July 2020 at Bursledon Windmill and commence at 10.30am in place of the scheduled date of 24 July 2020.
